Westar Aerospace & Defense Group Inc. will provide test support services to the Army Aviation Technical Test Center at Fort Rucker under a five-year contract valued at more than $21 million.

Westar's Aviation Technical Services division, led by Joe Townsend, operates out of the company's Huntsville center and manages most of the work that Westar does for the Army. Westar has about 400 employees here and about 550 in Alabama.

"Westar's 20-plus years of experience in flight testing, evaluation and analysis fully supports the ATTC's mission to optimize aviation war-fighting capabilities to ensure full spectrum dominance of the battlefield for the soldier," said Townsend, Westar vice president, Aviation Technical Services.
